We talk to Dave Robertson, owner of Gig Harbor Boat Works, about their boats. All the boats they build are modern reproductions – the one on display at the Annapolis Boat Show is based on an 1870s waterman’s workboat on the Chesapeake known as a melon seed. This new lightweight fiberglass version also includes the same ergonomics as a modern rowing shell as well as a fisherman’s rig for sailing.
