We love hearing from our members and instructors when they have adventures in exotic places…
“I recently visited Hong Kong and met up with Dr. Andrew Kay, Managing Director of the ASA sailing School Hong Kong Catamaran Club and ASA IE. Dr. Kay graciously invited me to participate in the annual Sunseeker Opening Regatta hosted by the Aberdeen Boat Club in Hong Kong aboard his Beneteau First 40.7 named “Cata Kam Loong“. Race day arrived with 20+ knot winds and 4′-6′ seas, but we had a determined crew, all well-trained by Dr. Kay. With over 30 boats in attendance, and five in our class, we started the 30 mile race with double reefed main and no spinnaker. We ended up in second place after a back and forth battle with another boat named “Getafix” during the entire 30 mile course. A good time was had by all!”
