How advanced does your sailing experience need to be for the west coast of Vancouver Island? Does anyone have any personal experience with landing fees or visiting any local villages? Drop any tips for navigating the west coast below!

Hi Phaedra! You should be comfortable and confident sailing in the open ocean and definitely know how to reef and how to interpret weather forecasts. Landings by gravel beach and rocky shore are common. All the villages we’ve stopped at welcome visitors and we’ve never paid a landing fee more than about $20.
