American Sailing Partners with SeaPeople
Charting a New Course in Sailing Education
At American Sailing, our motto has always been, “Sailing is just the beginning.” We’ve always believed that sailing is a journey. Thanks to our new partnership with the fast-growing marine app SeaPeople, that journey is about to become more connected, more engaging, and more rewarding for our students, instructors, and schools.
This partnership marks a bold step toward modernizing sailing education and strengthening the global boating community by integrating advanced digital logbook technology, real-time tracking, and social connection tools into American Sailing’s curriculum.
SeaPeople is a mobile app built by sailors for sailors—offering a seamless way to log your time on the water, share your adventures, and stay immersed in the sailing lifestyle long after class is over. Think of it as a digital sailing logbook and community hub right in your pocket.
From your first ASA course, SeaPeople allows you to build a digital sailing résumé. Every tack, gybe, and nautical mile you sail will be recorded, animated, and shared—creating a real-time record of your progress that can come in handy whether you’re booking your first bareboat charter or simply reflecting on your growth.
Build Your Digital Sailing Résumé
Students at American Sailing schools can now begin building a digital sailing résumé from their first day on the water.
Each trip logged in the SeaPeople app captures:
- Distance sailed
- Time underway
- Routes taken (with animated track lines)
- Crew or instructor involvement
- Photos, videos, and notes
This becomes a verifiable record of experience invaluable for chartering a boat, seeking insurance coverage, or simply tracking personal progress.

SeaPeople is More Than A Logbook
SeaPeople is a tool that helps you stay connected with your school, instructors, fellow students, and the wider boating world. It extends the classroom into a vibrant, global sailing community through verified school groups, live trip tracking, and built-in messaging features.
Instructors can use the app to follow students’ progress, communicate in real time, and keep tabs on trips as they happen. Schools can build lasting relationships with students and keep them engaged beyond certification day. And for sailors? It’s a new way to feel inspired—seeing where others are sailing, sharing your experiences, and feeling like part of something bigger.
Create your sailing Community with verified groups built for American Sailing schools, instructors, and students. You can now:
