What is A+?
A+ is American Sailing’s premium content and community experience. It gives members access to exclusive sailing education articles, forums, online classes, puzzles and games, and the social newsfeed.
Is A+ now included with American Sailing membership?
Yes. A+ is now included as part of an annual American Sailing membership. That means annual members receive access to the premium A+ content and community features as part of their membership benefits.
Do I need to buy A+ separately?
If you do not have an annual American Sailing membership, you can purchase an A+ subscription separately.
If you have an active annual American Sailing membership, A+ is included. You do not need to purchase a separate A+ subscription.
What is included with A+?
A+ includes access to premium sailing content, and community features such as:
- Sailing forums
- Premium articles
- Puzzles and games
- Social newsfeed
- Access to the A+ app
How do I access A+?
Create an account, or sign in to americansaiing.com.
Use the same email address associated with your American Sailing Membership, and the accounts will be automatically linked. Once signed in, you’ll be able to access A+ content and features.
If the two email addresses are different, you’ll need to change them to match
- Change your email address on americansailing.com by visiting your Account Settings.
- Change your email address for your American Sailing Membership via the Your Information page on the Sailor Portal.
I’m already an American Sailing member. Do I automatically get A+?
Yes. If your annual membership is active, A+ is included. Make sure you are signed in with the same account associated with your American Sailing membership.
If the two email addresses are different, you’ll need to change them to match
- Change your email address on americansailing.com by visiting your Account Settings.
- Change your email address for your American Sailing Membership via the Your Information page on the Sailor Portal.
I previously subscribed to A+ separately. What happens to my subscription?
If you have an American Sailing Membership and an A+ subscription, then we recommend you cancel your A+ subscription. Check your Subscriptions page to see information about your current subscriptions.
If you do not have an American Sailing membership, you can continue to enjoy your monthly A+ subscription, or you can switch to an annual American Sailing Membership and enjoy all the other benefits we offer.
How can I renew my American Sailing Membership if it has expired?
Please renew your annual American Sailing Membership via the Sailor Portal.
Can I access A+ content if I have a Trial Membership?
If you only have a trial membership, then you cannot access A+ content. You can upgrade to a full membership in the Sailor Portal, or you can subscribe to A+.
What happend to the quarterly print magazine Passages?

Do I need the American Sailing app to use A+?
You do not need the app to access A+ content. The content is available both in the app and on the website.

You can access A+ content on your phone either through your phone’s browser or, we strongly recommend, the A+ app. Download the App >
Are the online classes included for free?
A+ does not include free access to any online classes.
The annual American Sailing Membership includes 25% off online classes and free access to the occasional members-only online class.
Does A+ include access to my certification records?
A+ does not include access to your ASA Certifications.
The annual American Sailing Membership includes access to your ASA Certifications, including a digital membership card, via the Sailor Portal. When your account is linked, you will also be able to see your ASA Certifications in your Profile.
Can non-members subscribe to A+?
Yes, anyone can subscribe to A+.
If you already have an American Sailing Membership, then A+ is included.
If you are interested in subscribing to A+, you should consider an annual American Sailing Membership and enjoy all the other benefits we offer.
What’s the difference between American Sailing membership and A+?
An annual American Sailing membership includes member benefits such as discounts, access to student records, your membership ID card, and more.
A+ (now included with annual membership) provides access to premium content and community experience.
How much does membership cost?
An annual American Sailing Membership costs $59.
Will my A+ access expire?
If you have an annual American Sailing Membership, then your A+ access is tied to that membership. As long as your membership remains active, your A+ access remains active.
If you have an A+ subscription it will be setup to auto-renew on a monthly basis until you cancel your subscription.
Can I share my A+ access with someone else?
No. A+ access is connected to your individual account and is intended for your personal use.
I’m having trouble accessing A+. What should I do?
Please check the following
- Are you signed in to americansailing.com? If not, sign in at americansailing.com/login/
- If you have an annual American Sailing Membership, check that your accounts are connected via the Membership tab on your Profile.
- If you have an A+ Subscription, check your Subscriptions.
If you still cannot access A+, contact American Sailing support and include the email address on your membership account.
