Marina Sailing is California’s largest sailing club. Since 1962, they have offered a welcoming environment for new sailors to learn and pursue their sailing passions. As a member, you have access to six beautiful locations maintaining a fleet of over seventy yachts. On top of that, there are thousands of members to share your passion with. The Newport Beach location has been in operation for over twenty years at the Bayside Marina.

This month’s Featured School is Marina Sailing, Newport Beach

Where They Sail

Newport Beach, founded in 1906, is the pristine destination for sailors and beachcombers alike. James Irvine and James McFadden in the late 1800s crafted what is today a sailing paradise for all. Newport Beach offers year-round sailing opportunities with a temperate climate and protected waters. A consistent warm summer breeze carries you along with picturesque views of Santa Catalina Island and the famous Orange County beaches. After a relaxing day on the water, enjoy exquisite dining and entertainment within walking distance. The Balboa Island Ferry has transported people and vehicles across the bay for over one hundred years! Balboa Island offers fine dining at the Pavilions, streetside cafes, boutique shops, and even the Fun Zone for the kids.

Sailors from around the world will feel at home in Newport’s rich boating culture. From daily regattas in the summer to historic boating events, there is always a reason to get on the water. Unlike many harbors, Newport Beach offers first-class sailing inside its waterways. Hoist the sails and get into the action immediately as you tack and jibe up and down the harbor. If you want to take your skills to the next level, point your compass to Santa Catalina Island! This ~30 nautical mile journey is filled with breathtaking views and sea life. Pick up a mooring ball or simply drop an anchor along the coast. Catalina Island is the ultimate destination for sailors looking to get away from it all.

Our fleet of sailing yachts is docked in the pristine Bayside Marina offering exclusive parking, and private bathroom/shower access. Even better, our location allows the sailing to begin as soon as you leave the slip. Come and visit us today to see for yourself!
