One of the reasons that I think Annapolis is one of the VERY best sailing towns in the world is because there are 50 anchorages within 3 hours from Annapolis harbor. But… my favorite anchorage… is the next one.

I like Kristin’s reply – the next one. If I had to pick a favorite it might be off the coast of Capri.

But Kristin, one of my really special places is St Michael’s!

Hadley Harbor is one of my favorites. Tucked into Naushon Island – one of the Elizabeth Islands that separate Buzzards Bay from Woods Hole and Vineyard Sound – Hadley’s is well protected and picturesque. There are privately maintained moorings you can pick up (for free) if you are an early arriver. This is a very popular spot at a major cross-roads of southern New England cruising.

Here in Florida, it’s definitely Pelican Bay– there’s just something special about it, especially with all the fun memories… including that one time I ran aground! 😅 It’s a popular spot in Charlotte Harbor on the Gulf side, and I always love coming back. But if we’re talking favorites, nothing beats Cabrera Island off the coast of Mallorca. The night sky there is pure magic – no light pollution, just endless stars.
