In this class, Dave Perry, a world-renowned expert on racing rules and author of two books on the rules, will explain the changes in the new racing rules for 2025-2028 that go into effect on January 1, 2025. There are changes to the definition of Obstruction and Mark-Room, Rule 17 about sailing a proper course, Rule 18 about rounding marks, and the rules in Part 5 about how to protest, request redress, and hear protests. A large portion of this session will be dedicated to answering participants’ rules questions on any situation.

He is the chairman of the US Sailing Appeals Committee and was inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame in 2020. He is the Rules Advisor to the 2024 US Olympic Sailing Team.
