We are a cruising oriented sailing school. We do not teach you to go fast. We embrace the tranquil aspects of sailing, focusing on safety, boat handling, and keeping the drama out of boating.
Our instructors have extensive sailing experience with an average age of 55 and plenty of years on the water. Most have cruised up and down the intracoastal waterway and beyond. We also have women-only courses taught by our female instructors.
Located in Narragansett Bay, we offer an ideal teaching area. We have tides and currents that can be felt, but not so much to be troublesome. Right outside our harbor are lighthouses and every kind of buoy, yet almost no hazards. It’s perfect for learning!
Morning winds are light but building up to 15 knots in the afternoon, allowing us to teach techniques in varying conditions. Outside our normal ASA courses, the most popular classes are boat mechanical & electrical systems, advanced docking, and diesel engine/boat systems. We have three different docking/close maneuvering courses including basic, advanced, and big boat. Lady instructors are ready to teach all our courses, including both mixed gender and women-only, including diesel!
