Island Bound Sailing Academy is based on the small landlocked Lake Grapevine near DFW Intl Airport. Closer by far to Oklahoma, than a body of saltwater. We have been a key part of the local sailing for nearly two decades. We have enhanced and set into motion a number of liveaboard cruisers and many more advanced certificated sailors.
Island Bound Sailing Academy is a multiple award winner of ASA Outstanding School of the Year and has a number of current and previous recipients of ASA Outstanding Instructors of the year.
This is because of our passion for sailing and for seeing those who choose us know the focus on training begins with them.
Our slogan began from a live radio program where we were compared to Jimmy Buffett and sailing, and it was off the cuff stated: “We do not escape reality, We create it!”
Island Bound Sailing treats everyone as we wish to be treated, with great respect and a level of building confidence.
Grapevine attracts folks from all over, being with many vineyards and known as the Christmas Capital of Texas – where we also have students gravitate to our small lake and marina. Winds on our lake are quite favorable for sailing as are the depths of our reservoir.
