Our sailing school offers professional, American Sailing–certified instruction designed for individuals who want to learn to sail with confidence, competence, and real-world skill. Located in Alexandria, Virginia, we train on the dynamic waters of the Potomac River and Chesapeake region—an ideal classroom that provides varied wind conditions, currents, and traffic patterns to prepare sailors for real cruising environments.
Students train aboard well-maintained, modern cruising sailboats equipped with inboard engines, roller furling, modern navigation electronics, and all required safety gear. These are not stripped-down training platforms—they are real boats, set up the way sailors will encounter them in ownership, chartering, or extended cruising. This ensures students gain practical experience that translates directly to life on the water.
Instruction is intentionally kept personal. We offer small group classes with limited student caps, as well as private and executive-level instruction for those seeking an accelerated or highly customized experience. This approach allows instructors to tailor lessons to individual learning styles, comfort levels, and goals—whether that’s earning certification, gaining confidence at the helm, or preparing for future cruising.
Our instructors are experienced sailors and educators with extensive on-the-water backgrounds. They focus not only on teaching maneuvers and theory, but on developing sound judgment, situational awareness, and seamanship. Safety, professionalism, and calm decision-making are emphasized throughout every course.
From first-time sailors to those advancing their skills, our programs are designed to help students feel prepared, capable, and confident when they step aboard any sailboat. Learning here means more than passing a course—it means becoming a sailor.
