The global plastic pollution crisis is an issue that demands our immediate attention. The staggering statistics paint a grim picture: about 40 million metric tons of plastic waste are produced annually, with a forecasted increase to 1,100 million metric tons by 2050. A significant portion of this plastic finds its way into our oceans, rivers, and coastlines, wreaking havoc on marine life and ecosystems. As sailors who call the ocean our playground and home, we simply have to do something. That is the impetus for a partnership between American Sailing and 4ocean.

Joining Forces for a Cleaner Ocean

American Sailing has partnered with 4Ocean, a premier ocean cleanup company committed to tackling the plastic pollution crisis head-on. Together, we are launching a new “Buy One, Pull One” campaign, a remarkable initiative designed to make a tangible impact on the global cleanup efforts.

Now you can help clean the ocean through the American Sailing partnership with 4Ocean.

The “Buy One, Pull One” program empowers American Sailing to directly impact ocean health. For every purchase made through this initiative, American Sailing’s customers and stakeholders are making a commitment to safeguarding our oceans. When you purchase apparel at the American Sailing store, you are directly impacting the world ocean, marking a crucial step toward a cleaner, healthier marine ecosystem.

The Buy One, Pull One campaign means that for each apparel item purchased, one pound of plastic will be removed from the ocean.

Now, when you purchase apparel from the American Sailing Apparel Store, you are giving back to the ocean and its inhabitants by cleaning up our beloved waterways.

BUY ONE, PULL ONE: For every apparel item purchased, one pound of plastic is removed from the ocean.

The 4Ocean Mission

Since its inception in 2017, 4ocean has been on the front lines of ocean cleanup. Their professional, full-time captains and crews have already removed an astounding 29 million pounds of plastic waste and other debris from the world’s oceans, rivers, and coastlines. Their dedication to creating a plastic-free world has enabled brands to help power the cleanup efforts.

4ocean, headquartered in Boca Raton, FL, is an ocean cleanup company driven by a mission to end the ocean plastic crisis. As a Public Benefit Corporation and Certified B Corp, they harness the power of business to fund a global cleanup operation that recovers millions of pounds of plastic and other debris from the world’s oceans, rivers, and coastlines each year.

About 40 million metric tons of plastic waste are produced annually, with a forecasted increase to 1,100 million metric tons by 2050.
