Students learn aboard our fleet of J/29 sailboats, widely regarded as one of the finest training platforms available. The J/29 is responsive, stable, and forgiving enough for beginners while still delivering the performance and excitement that experienced sailors appreciate. Unlike many heavier cruising boats, the J/29 provides immediate feedback to sail trim and helm adjustments, allowing students to quickly develop boat-handling skills and a true understanding of how a sailboat responds to wind and water. These characteristics make the J/29 an exceptional classroom for building confidence and competence under sail.
Sailing from Liberty State Park offers a truly unique experience. Students train on the waters of New York Harbor with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Hudson River.
